Domestic Decorations You Think Are Important to Impress Her That Aren’t Necessary
Unless you have an interior designer in the family or in your circle of friends, you probably couldn’t care less what the decorations in your house or apartment look like. However, when you start dating a new woman, you might be tempted to start throwing decorations everywhere in an attempt to impress her, and often that’s just not necessary. First of all, if you’re just hooking up, she won’t even notice what your home looks like because all she’s really seeing is the bedroom and the bathroom. If you’re dating and she sees a little more of your home, even then she won’t care. Unless there are piles of trash all over your home, it’s not really a concern to her or unless she comes from high society and expects perfect manners. Here are just a few things you might stress over to impress her that she couldn’t care less about.
Tablecloths
If you invite her over to your home for a dinner you make for her, don’t worry about making sure the kitchen table has a tablecloth. Even if it’s just a folding card table, don’t try and dress it up into something more high-class than it is or you’ll look stupid and she’ll know you’re trying to make yourself look better unnecessarily. Tablecloths aren’t necessary unless it’s a holiday dinner and you want to have a themed cover for the table, so pass on this. As long as the table isn’t dirty, she won’t care.
Overly Decorative Air Fresheners
Everyone knows that bad smells exist, and everyone knows that air fresheners are occasionally necessary. Don’t buy one of the tacky wall plug-ins that is unnecessarily frilly and over-decorated. They exemplify trying too hard, and there’s no reason to try and hide something like that. She can smell that the bathroom smells more like fresh linen than a bathroom, so why try and hide the air freshener? A normal air freshener will get the job done and won’t look nearly as tacky.
Shoe Racks
If she has a chance to get into your closet, please don’t have a shoe rack. Shoe racks are for children who have trouble keeping track of their shoes, not grown men who should be able to just have a designated space in the closet for their shoes. Shoe racks take up space in the closet and are just a general eyesore. Having shelves for your shoes is fine, but one of those wire racks that clips to the closet door isn’t a good idea. She’ll probably just laugh at you.
Matching Dining Room or Bathroom Decorations
Matching bathroom sets are especially bad. Typically, those sets where the toilet brush holder, bar soap dish and liquid soap dispenser are all the same and are accompanied by a decorative cup for your toothbrush are used by women with too much time on their hands or kids’ bathrooms, so they’re totally unnecessary. Don’t worry about getting one. Matching dining sets aren’t necessary either, and to be honest, she won’t expect them.
