The opinions that most men have concerning being in a “friends with benefits” situation tend to go towards two extremes. They either think that having at least one friend with benefits over the course of your life is necessary or they absolutely insist that it’s not possible to just be a friend with benefits. There are men out there who, as much as they love casual sex, don’t think that you should see a woman again after you have slept with her or she’ll get the wrong idea and start thinking that the relationship is more committed than it is. Well, that’s just not giving women enough credit, is it? You’re a mature adult and you have good taste to know what she thinks, so you won’t have a problem with that. We tend to think that men who won’t give a gorgeous girl friend a chance to wow them in bed are missing out, and if you’re depriving yourself of that, it’s only you who will be suffering.

The Pros

With a one-night stand, you don’t know much of each other’s personalities. You meet on a hookup or dating site and if you’re just in it for sex, you don’t get the opportunity to really get to know each other first. It’s alright, you don’t really need to. After all, you’re just having sex and that too just once. If you want a steadier (but still causal) situation, hooking up with a hot female friend is a great idea. It’s great because you already know each other pretty well and you know each other’s pet peeves, so just taking it a step further and realizing that you can get even more of a good situation when you have it and hooking up is easy. It’s also great because on those rare occasions you don’t want to have sex and just need someone to spend time with, you have that as well. A friend with benefits is great because when you have one, you have a lover, a friend and someone who will pretend to be your girlfriend when you need a date to the holiday party at work or when the girl at the bar you’re not at all interested in just won’t take a hint and stop throwing herself at you.

The Cons

One of the biggest downside to having a friend with benefits is that once you have slept together, you’re going to act different around her. When you move on to a more serious relationship and introduce your girlfriend to your friend, she’ll be able to tell that there was something more than friendship between you. Women can always tell. It’s frustrating, but it’s true. Even if the two of you haven’t slept together in years, she’ll be able to tell that you once thought of your friend as more than that. Aside from that, there really aren’t any issues with having a friend with benefits. If you have gorgeous female friends and you want to sleep together to blow off a little extra steam, you should take the opportunity. You won’t regret it.
